A04 Investigations to generate future work and Ideas

One of the most important aspects of animation is the investigations made into other artists work and similar project to that you wish to produce. As I have a variety of ideas for my future projects I have found it vital to investigate into other people and companies work as they enable me to generate more ideas for my own work in the future. As I am able to access a variety of projects and pieces of art from sources such as art galleries, the internet and art books I am easily able to gain a greater understanding of how to creatively produce my future projects in a professional manner as these investigations shape how I shall produce my own work in the future.

One of the most important aspects of investigating different projects and artforms would definately be the importance of being able to use this knowledge to great effect by therefore being able to go on and produce more detailed project in the future where I have experimented with a variety of artforms to portray my work and my creative mind. I have always found it important to be able to express my creative side through art so therefore investigating other art, art styles and artist I am easily able to to develop my future work based on my findings as I venture on finding new ways to portray my work in a more creative way. As I have taken into account the requirements set by the client in unit 1 I have chosen the campaign set ( to produce an animation to promote healthy eating ) to examine how investigations into other work can aid my own future project. As I have a client to please it is vital for me to present my work and ideas effectively. Taking this into account my future work has to meet the guidlines set and be presentable to the target audience for the animtion whilst also being creative enough to attract a greater interest from others. Throughout this unit and the others my main goal has been to develop skills in an affective manner to which i shall be able to produce a professional animation for my client. This gives me a great insight into how art and design can be used to great effect in selling and marketing my work.

The investigations have led me to generate new ideas for my client - The Nhs , and their healthy eating campaign)

The context of my work and The link between other Art/ projects

As I have collected and researched a great deal in others work I have tried to encorporate a variety of perspectives and styles into my own work. An example of how this has been effectively achieved is my unit 17 (understanding Narrative images) work. As this unit enables me to develop skills in producing and demonstrating narrative in a visual format I linked the work with other styles found from a variety of artists across the globe. As my visual story had to be based on an eastern (japanese) myth I had to creatively link my own knowledge and creative western style as I applied common conventions found in other artist work into this piece of work. Below is an example of an artist that I researched within my work. This is an example of how there work in particular has generated my own ideas for future projects. Nanami Cowdroy I specifically chose Nanami cowdroy for a variety of reasons. As Nanami has a mixed Japanese and European heritage growing up in such contrasting surroundings of Australia I found it appropriate and ideal to explore her particular methods and styles of art. Even though Nanami has been brought up living an 'australian lifestyle' with contrasting norms and styles to that found within Japan, this had not restricted to her style and inspirations coming from different cultural backgrounds found within australia. In a sense this is what is familiar to myself and my creative stlye of work. I find it important to continue to explore different cultural attitudes and styles that shall ultimately shape what I create and how I think and produce my own work. Nanami cowdroy has inspired me to broaden my research and how I find inspiration from a variety of sources. As I researched and investigated a variety of japanese artforms I was able to generate a better feel of how I should produce my visual narrative story as I had greater ideas due to my investigations of other artists work, in particular that of Nanami Cowdroy.

Generating new ideas - How has/will investigating artists generate ideas for my future work?

Investigating and doing research for this course is vital in producing a successful campaign for the client ( set in unit1). I have found with my work in particular that differentiating it from the rest can only be achieved with research and investigations of others work and styles. I find with my own work that aknowledgement of others styles and art will definately help me with my own creative ideas as I am abke to broden my knowledge of how objects, ways of life and lifestyles in particular can be portrayed in a variety of ways.

One advantage of investigating other pieces of art and artists is the tools in which they created there work. As most of the artwork I have researched have been a 'success' in some way I focused on the methods used to examine why they are successful? It led me to aknowledging the fact that I would be able to generate new ideas that were creative and 'fresh' as I understood that each individual artist style was in some form created from inspiration found in not just other peoples art but inspiration they found in a whole variety of forms. This idea of 'thinking outside the box' in a less consise manner appealed to me as being the correct way to generate new ideas as I could be more free with where I found my ideas and inspiration and less restricted in how I produced work. As I have and shall continue to research artists and there work I have found it much easier to generate new ideas for already existing ones. Investigating other art in general has led me away from reproducing similar pieces of work as i found that the research has enabled me to generate fresh ideas for the future.

How investigations into artists/art and projects lead to innovative combinations of media and approaches

As I am fortunate to live in a world where art and technology can be combined and easily accessable, I am able to express myself and my work through different platforms with a much more diverse opportunity to generate new ideas through investigated others work found on the internet as this contemporary way of gaining an insight into the world of art has led me to find a whole variety of styles and ways in which I can produce art in which I may not have found without the access to local media sources (the internet). I believe the convergence of media and art has the impowering effect to capture a vast variety of art and art movements across the world where many can establish themselves as artists and share their own visions and cultures through imagery to others wherever and whenever they wish.

Whilst taking into account the combination of the media and art, this would be a key aspect in the success of my own work as the internet has the power to gain views of others who are interested in your particular style that you convey through your own art.An important benefit of the media in conjunction to artwork from myself or other artist would be the marketing opportunities found whilst displaying your work as many more people are able to view the chosen 'art' and take inspiration from what you have created (similar to what I did to find other artists work). Linking technology to art can also be a form of art within itself from my own personal opinion. I believe that the oppoprtunities found within the modern era has made it possible to find limitless artwork to be inspired by from a vast variety of cultures, periods of time and artists.

To conclude, investigating other projects similar to that of my own and even projects that do not relate to my own project is an important process of generating new ideas for my future work. Examining this process,I am now aware of the importance of others own work and 'art' within the production of my own work, as I am constantly seeking new ideas for my current and future work (such as my final animation) I find it vital to gain knowledge and understanding of others art as these investigations shall enable me to produce a higher standard of work as I have a variety of tools and techniques that I can use thanks to the research of others art and methods other artists use to develop and create their own work.

Finding the correct balance between media and other approaches to producing my future work is an important factor to consider. As my several pieces of future work shall be created on the basis that they are made using computer software It shall be important to keep an artistic feel to the work rather than an artificial feel as my influences of others work and existing projects are important in the production of my future work.

How I developed my own ideas through research into artists

Researching into an extensive range of artists has definately enabled me to develop my own ideas and produce more imaginative work as I have been able to develop my own stlye and have been inspired by the techniques, styles and methods other artists use in order to produce their work. As it is important for me to develop my ideas based around new and exciting styles and methods of production I find other artists research a great way to develop my methods in order to produce my creative and stylised work.

Researching into artists work inspired me to develop new and visually exciting pieces of work throughout the project as I was able to research into a variety of different backgrounds and cultural styles as they were reflected within the artists work. This insight into 'cultures styles' allowed me to develop my existing ideas and style in order to produce work which would be more diverse and aesthtically pleasing. Without the research into other styles and artists work I would be limited with what I would be able to achieve and would be able to express as my own style would be limited and not as visually striking and pleasing to the eye. This is why the research into other artists is vital in order for me to produce imaginative and creativfe artwork which is creative and visually appealing to the audience.

Throughout the project I was also able to use newly acquired skills and techniques that I had learnt from other artists and their work as I was able to explore what materials they used in order to produce and present their artwork, this in favour allowed me to develop my construction and development skills in order to present an imaginative final product that was stylised and visually exciting to view.

How could I take my idea further

After the research that I had undertaken I believe that I am able to develop and take my existing ideas further for various new projects that I will undertake. Research into various artists and into different techniques has also allowed me to develop my style so that I can effectively produce visually exciting work in the future, moreover I have found the research into various artists important in enabling me to develop my onw unique style as I have been able to use the artist research as inspiration for my own projects and work.

Investigating into an array of different artists and styles has definately enabled me to become more confident in developing my own ideas within the future. As I have been able to stylise my work through the help of techniques and methods obtained through research I believe that I can continue developing my skilss and ideas so that I am able to produce imagiantive work which is striking to the eye. Now that I have gained these skills I believe that I will also be able to produce more stylized and innovative work. As an artist I am also learning new ways to capture the audiences attention through the auesthetics and visuals of my work. After continuing to develop my style thanks to the research into various methods, artists and cultures I believe that I will be able to generate new interest and new possible projects from clients.
